Aforestation
The initiative is a multifaceted effort that involves the careful cultivation of forest and agroforestry seedlings. Once these seedlings are nurtured, they are subsequently planted in a diverse array of watersheds and wetland areas that span across 13 distinct provinces in Burundi. This extensive undertaking aims not only to improve the ecological health of these regions but also to promote their long-term sustainability. By focusing on these vital ecosystems, the initiative seeks to ensure that they remain vibrant and resilient for the benefit of both the environment and the communities that depend on them for their livelihoods.
Biogas
To contribute to the mitigation of diseases caused by the spread of pathogenic germs and the reduction of greenhouse gases by building ecological toilets and a biodigester to methanize fecal waste and other biomass waste to produce alternative energy to wood, a non-profit association made up of socially-inclusive men and women, including indigenous peoples and the disabled, who have come together under the umbrella of the "UDEC" to promote good hygiene and sanitation practices, including the resilience of populations to energy crises. through the implementation of a system for converting faecal waste from ecological latrines into biogas, on the one hand as an energy substitute for wood-energy, and on the other hand as digestate, a product with high agronomic value that can be assimilated by plants.
Improved stoves
A significant number of families in Burundi are confronted with the harsh reality of extreme poverty, which limits their ability to purchase essential items like cooking gas. Consequently, many resort to the excessive use of wood for cooking, leading to detrimental effects on the local forests and environment. In response to this pressing issue, we offer innovative improved stoves that are specifically designed to promote economical wood usage. With these stoves, families can efficiently prepare meals throughout the day using only three pieces of wood, helping to conserve resources and protect the environment.
